Irish Gaelic football is:
1) Fast paced, non-tackle contact sport
2) Excellent offseason cross training
3) A great fitness program
It's not quite rugby and certainly not soccer. Irish Gaelic football appears to combine athletic skills and elements from such sports as American football, soccer, and even basketball and volleyball but this game is completely unique and predates all of those sports. It is the most popularly played sport in all of the Emerald Isle and is played in over 20 cities in the United States. And it's now being played right here in Arkansas!
When: Every Sunday at 3:00PM
Where: Laurel Park, 2200 Prince Street, Conway, AR
Cost: FREE!
What to Bring: Cleats (if you have them), water bottle, enthusiasm!
Each session will begin with a thorough beginner level training, followed by drill work and then a scrimmage. Co-ed scrimmages will either be low contact (think basketball) mixed assignment or full contact (think ice hockey) non-mixed assignment (male v. male, female v. female).
No matter what sports you've played in the past, you're sure to find something familiar in Gaelic football, along with plenty of new things to learn! No experience or knowledge of the game is necessary and there is no cost to play!!
