My family lives in Hot Springs Village, a community we love. I work on Baseline Road in Little Rock. Gas prices are forcing us to move from the community and school we love to Benton or Bryant (communities we know nothing about) to save the $400 to $500 a month we spend on fuel. Very upsetting!

Re: Are high gas prices forcing you to make changes in your everyday life?

Hi. High gas prices are negatively impacting my life.

I work for minimum wage. 40 hours a week. My

spouse works for minimum wage too.  We have

2 children. We do not qualify for Food Stamps

because our income is just over $1600 gross

a month.  We are now spending $120 a week

for gas  just to get to work. Thats more than

half of one of our checks !!! We gave up cable TV

and phone because gas hit $3.00 a gallon.

    What's next??? Food ???

We're dealing with high gas prices by going to the Kroger Store gas pumps nearest us and using our Kroger Discount Card.  It's not much, but every little bit helps.

We go to work... we come home.  No vacation this year.  Thank heavens we don't own a diesel powered vehicle.  I hear people on the opposite side of the pump make disgusted sounds when filling the larger SUV's and work trucks.  Time for locking gas caps?

Yes, I don't go anywhere unless I have to.  I have a Chev. Caliver, so I get good gas mileage.  It may come to the point that I will have to cut back on food or something to pay for gas.

Yes they are in fact! No more idling at the burger king drive up...or the bank either. Not checking the mailbox by car, and reading it later when I get to the couch! No warm-ups either....hit the key and go! If you get behind me, you may get peeved, because I will likely be that dumb old veteran[blind in one eye] in a silver chrysler pacifica doing 50mph in a 70! No more fishing from my boat....just polishing it up on saturday. Carpooling with all my family members to the grocery store 30 miles north. A pacifica will hold enough groceries to keep 4 families barely alive. Grass gets 1 foot tall before mowing. Everything I just gotta have will be in the UPS truck after waiting 6 weeks. We will have a great vacation playing video games at home. What's an airplane?? I have accumulated 8 mountain bikes folks threw away at the land fill....they are all operational. China ain't got nuthin on me! Sorry Walmart...you lose! ~Denarky

Gas prices are getting crazy. I work in Little Rock and live in Cabot. I pay 160 dollars a week just for gas. My husband works in Sherwood and pays 50 dollars a week. We have 4 children that play sports. With gas prices being so high we will not be able to go on vacation or do anything for that matter. It is getting to the point that either we eat or buy gas. We do not qualify for any assistence.

    Sad

America used to be the land of opportunities, but now because of the conglomarates that has the power and control to set prices, America, for our family anyway, is the land of utmost despair and gloom. I put only enough gas in my 4 cylinder car to go back and for to where it's absolutely necessary to go.....to the doctor, drug store, grocery store, post office. A vacation is just something we can dream about, as being retired on social security makes one impossible for our family.

Mr. Bush, I hope tha hell you are happy now that you've destroyed our American way of life. Tell all of your big time oil buddies that I said to go to where tha sun don't shine.....you too while I'm on the subject.

Re: Are high gas prices forcing you to make changes in your everyday life?

Gas prices are a problem.  When gas goes up the cost of everything else does too.  It cost more for shipping companies to ship products and you can bet that profit loss is absorbed by higher priced items.  I am a stay at home mom with two kids my husband has a great job.  However, we have cut every indulgence out of our lives and yet we still can't seem to make it.  We  are always paying bills late.  We just don't have the money to keep up with the rising cost of fuel.  I am working on the weekends when my husband can be here with the kids and yet we still can't seem to get ahead.  It is crazy when a hard working family like ours can't survive.

Here's the problem with that perception: You are right, every product people must have goes up with the cost of fuel, twice....once when the price of the item is raised, and again when you drive to the store to get that product, in your car; using that outragiously high priced fuel!!
