I just finished up 13 months of chemotherapy. I have had a double radical mastectomy and lumpectomy. I thought a mammogram was enough. I was up to date with my mammogram. As a matter of fact, I still had nearly 3 months remaining before I had to take another one....if I would have waited 3 more months I would not be here writing this post.

I took a shower one morning; dried off; sprayed on my deodorant, which I sprayed over-lapping onto my right breast. I reached up with my left hand to wipe it off...and then I felt it!

...That dreadful, sickly, change your life forever, LUMP! Within 9 months, I went from a normal, healthy mammogram... to stage 4 cancer, nearly stage 5. I never felt a pain. It was silent. I was large breasted, so it went undected by mere vision, SELF-EXAMS ARE CRUCIAL!

Please, do your self-exams.

God bless, "Overcomer" <///><

Breast Self Exam (BSE) Reminder

Hello Everyone.....

It's me Donna.

I wanted you all to read a recent email I got from a Fox16 News viewer..... It shows there's truth to doing your breast self exams. Keep it up!

"I want to think Donna for her reminders on BSE. Even though I never signed up I would do the exams when she would talk about it. I found a small cyst that turned out to be cancer. I go to the surgeon next week. The doctors said that I caught it early. Thank you again Donna"

I SEE DOCTOR JONES 02/25/08

AFTER MY BREAST XRAYS NEXT MONTH deBORAH ADKINS@charlessr4315@sbcglobal.net

Welcome to the BSE Community

Hello My Friends!

It's Donna Terrell from Fox16 News at 5PM, 5:30PM and 9PM.....

Welcome to the BSE Community!

I hope you will enjoy this forum. It's an opportunity for us to talk about breast cancer and how it's affected our lives ad well as give information that may encourage or inspire other survivors.

As some of you know, my mother was a breast cancer survivor so this is an issue that is near and dear to me. She lived 11 years after her mastectomy....and even though she's passed away now, she never had a breast cancer recurrance. But I think we all know that early detection is what saves lives - so I'm a huge advocate of that! With that in mind - if you haven't signed up for my BSE Breast Self Exam *Email Reminder* please do so. You can find it on the Family Health page at Fox16.com.

Let's keep up the fight. I believe we WILL find a cure for breast cancer!
